Worth Every Second

I am not sure what I came in expecting. I had known I had a passion for serving at-risk youth and was excited to pour into the lives of these children. However, I am not sure I could have been prepared for what I experienced … because what I experienced was Heaven on Earth.

At the Royal Family Kids Camp, Jesus continuously revealed His heart for these children to us. This was revealed to me through a boy named Jordan. When I think about our time together, I just feel joy. Jordan had many reasons not to have it, but for some reason he never abandoned it. When with him, he was always smiling, singing, cracking jokes, or making you guess one of his “original” riddles. This joy was put on full display at our camp’s variety show. At the show, Jordan sang an original song called “His Mercy Is More”. The Spirit spoke through Jordan in a song that touched every heart in that room. I do not know how to put into words the beauty of that moment. Thankfully, that experience was put into words for me. At our debriefing, another volunteer described Jordan’s performance and the week perfectly for me. She described the week as Heaven on Earth. That was it. A week that brought broken people, broken situations, and a broken world together and yet God revealed Heaven.

I have been changed because of RFK. I cannot shake it. I am confident that this is the kingdom work that is bringing the Garden city. I am forever grateful for the experience and am looking forward to serving again!
